The Midland Railway operates excursion trains on a line originally constructed in 1867 by the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Fort Gibson Railroad. The organization’s primary goal is to obtain and restore historically significant railroad artifacts and equipment to foster the public’s awareness and appreciation of railroading, both past and present.” Tourists can enjoy an excursion provided by equipment in the operation of a common carrier demonstration passenger excursion railroad entirely volunteer-staffed and operated.” Individuals can become members, which allows them to work on unique projects that promote the preservation of railroad history. Individuals can also make donations to the Midland Railway Association through online PayPal (which is tax deductible). Finally, businesses are able to become corporate sponsors and support the Midland Railway’s mission.
